About

Clara Leitão (Lisbon, 1995) studied Costume & Set Design at António Arroio in her hometown, Lisbon, and graduated with a first class BA (Hons) degree in Design for Textiles (specializing in Print) from the School of Textiles & Design, in Scotland. As part of her studies, she completed a semester abroad at the National Institute of Design, in Ahmedabad, India.
She works with a variety of materials and techniques, from painting on paper to screenprinting (both on paper & fabric) and embroidery. She enjoys creating imaginary worlds, often inspired by tales she reads, stories she hears, dreams or images that are formed somewhere in her unconscious mind. She is constantly trying to learn more about herself through the characters she creates.
Clara lives and works in Lisbon and sometimes in Estremoz, in the Portuguese countryside, where she has her textiles studio.
