About

Clara is a recent Textile Design graduate, specializing in Print. She has studied Costume & Set Design in her hometown, Lisbon, and lived for five months in India, traveling and learning about textiles at the National Institute of Design, as part of an exchange programme.
Through an all-encompassing approach of materials and techniques that extends beyond Textile Design - from painting to screen print, to building three-dimensional objects -, Clara is interested in creating visual narratives of her subconscious mind, identity and Portuguese folklore. Her subjects are born from personal experiences, books and family stories.
Clara has been nominated through TexSelect to display her work at Première Vision, in Paris (2019). Other upcoming projects include an artist residency in Denmark (2019).
She was recently awarded the Clothworkers’ Company Printed Textile Design Prize at New Designers (London, 2019).
