Watching a Line of Ants

A period of five months living and studying in India, motivated this series of illustrations on paper and fabric, together with the book Ka: “Stories of the Mind and Gods of India, by Roberto Calasso”, which narrates some of the religious tales that are part of Indian culture and tradition.

Through an experimental approach to textiles, I navigated ways of translating paintings and illustration onto fabric, letting the story behind dictate the choice of materials, textures and techniques (from screen print and/ or inkjet print to embroidery and collaging with wood and plastic).

The outcome merges elements of my daily life in India, Indian folklore  and  thoughs about Portugal, my home country.
